2008 European Kit & Car Builder Show took place at The Kent County
Showground, Detling,
near Maidstone on Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th April.
To celebrate 18 years of event history one of the UK's biggest kit car shows returned to
welcome 2008 to the magnificent Kent show grounds. This year's show had some previews of
amazing new models and designs and marks the organizer, John Cooke's, 57th show. This
anniversary event was a record breaker with more manufacturers, new cars and
entertainment than ever before!
With over 35 manufacturers, 50 trade stands, 30 kit car clubs, great food, quad rides
and children's funfair, ample free parking and over 400 privately owned kit cars, the show
was a fantastic day out for any car enthusiast great or small!
With top manufacturers like Robin Hood, Sebring, Tifosi, Deauville, Quantum Sports Cars,
Beauford Cars, Pilgrim cars, Hawk Cars, Aeon Sportscars, Blaze sports, Cranbrook Kitcars, DJ
sportscars, GKD Sportscars. Raw Engineering, Tiger Racing, Magnam Sportscars, Adrenaline,
Tonic and MK Sportscars - over 30 top names displayed their cars inside the Kent Pavilion.
The show was a motoring extravaganza, with many new models and a wide range of design and
performance that suited every taste and build ambition.
WESTFIELD entertained us with a public ride Slalom event outside and a stunning
display inside showing off their new range of cars including the recently acquired GTM latest
model. A large club presence out side ensured the enthusiast saw plenty of private kit cars as
well as 6 clubs inside the halls that include the Cobra Replica Club, 289 Register Quantum
O/C, Robin Hood O/C, AEON o/c, Nostalgia o/c and of course the big Kent Kit Car Club, as well
as a sprinkling of HOT RODS from the Invicta Roadsters club.
To add to the many motoring attractions, there was some heart stopping entertainment from a
professional stunt rider NEIL PORTER who thrilled the crowds with his incredible wheelies,
smokies and explosive action-packed motorcycle stunts.

It's nearly
complete - the Pilgrim Minotaur, taking shape,
with first customer test drives scheduled soon
Love the
new AK Sportscars demo car, but then I love everything the guys do. Is that a lovely
hardtop or what? This one packs a Supercharged Chevy 305ci, by the way!
I know I
always say this, but each Beauford demo car
is better than the last one!
Aeon's new
GT3 Coupe features trick new doors with electric window operation.
Parallel
Designs are better known for the Lamborghini replicas, but they've also produced a
pleasing BMW E34-based Cobra replica.
As a bit of
a hot-rodder on the quiet, I love to see rod kits, of which there ain't many. HRB
brought their 34 Sedan and new Coupe body to Detling. Nice.
RCR 40 from
new UK importers, Speedwell Replica Cars, made its debut at Detling last weekend.
Tiger's
aluminium-bodied road-going ZR6 is ultra-cool.
Detling show marked…..the kitcar show debut of Speedwell Replica Cars
based in Maidstone, Kent, who are importing the superb RCR GT40 replica from America.
Run by enthusiast Terry Hennebery, Speedwell can also undertake builds of Cobra
replicas and offer a service and maintenance package, too. More details will be
available soon.

Tiger Racing were at Detling with the debut of their new ZR6, road
going version of their gorgeous aluminum series of cars. Power comes from a 2-litre
Duratec pepped-up with the addition of fiendish Rotrex supercharger, which Tiger-boss,
Jim Dudley, expects to result in a 250bhp pay-day! Fully built, the ZR6 costs from
£25,000 with comprehensive kits expected to be around the £19,000 mark. The aluminum
bodies are crafted in-house at Tiger's Thorney Toll HQ and with the car weighing in at
just 590kg, performance is going to be, shall we say, spirited!

No, it's not the Eldon. It's the new Razor.
Newly launched……the hugely under-rated Racecorp/Eldon/Razer was
shown at Detling show, now under the control of Crawley-based, Razor Sportscars. The
nicely presented demonstrator duly made it to the show, being finally finished at 9pm
on eve of the show! According to Razor-boss, Andrew Bause, the shiny red demo car was
well-received with lots of interest and even orders taken at the show.
